hypios, social problem-solving platform, announces its beta launch

TheWeb, 15th June 2009 – 8:00 am –  hypios announced the launch of the beta version of hypios.com, a website for global problem-solving competitions.

hypios.com is the first social marketplace for problem-solving online.

A problem-solving platform based on a social network, hypios enables solvers to connect with each other, collaborate on solving problems, and recommend problems to members of their networks. Solvers can also use their profiles as extended business cards with problem-solving credentials. Since hypios started recruiting solvers on hypios.info in March, thousands of solvers have joined the network, many with graduate-level degrees in the hard sciences.

In the beta spirit, hypios has designed a test of its concept and design, to be run before opening up the site to external problems.  By first posting its own challenging internal problems on hypios.com, it will accomplish two things:  a) receive actionable solutions to pressing problems and b) demonstrate the power of its platform to yield innovative solutions.

The internal problems will be launched in three phases over summer 2009. “Many companies have realized that they have to look for solutions outside their walls if they want to stay competitive. hypios is the perfect tool to source new problem-solvers and innovative solutions,” says Klaus-Peter Speidel, co-founder and chief communications officer of hypios.

Hypios combines intelligent crowdsourcing, competency discovery technology, and human outreach to deliver an optimal open problem-solving service. “Seekers” post R&D problems to the network and select a deadline and a price for the successful “Solver.” Hypios, which draws from a network of 950,000 experts across the world, has been solving R&D problems for global companies since 2008.
